Angelo Perera’s 178 give NCC edge over Army

Angelo Perera cracked a career best 178 to give NCC the edge over Army on the second day of their Premier Tier 'A' league cricket encounter at the NCC ground yesterday.

Angelo's knock made in 270 balls with 16 boundaries and two sixes enabled NCC, resuming from their overnight score of 311 for 7, to make a mammoth 458 for 8 declared.

He was involved in two fruitful partnerships, the first one with Akalanka Ganegama with whom he added 192 runs for the seventh wicket when NCC was struggling on 108 for 6. Akalanka's contribution was 93 with ten boundaries and a six.

Army in their turn was made to struggle as they found left arm spinner Roshan Lakmal unplayable. Roshan was responsible in sending the top order batting back to the pavilion with the score on just 50.
They never recovered from this setback. Ultimately they were bundled out for 116. Roshan ended with impressive figures of 5 for 37. Army following on with a deficit of 342 runs were 16 for 1.

Alwis double ton helps Saracens
Saracens SC amassed a massive 445 thanks to a swashbuckling and career best knock of 219 by opener Geeth Alwis in their encounter at the CCC ground.

Saracens made this mammoth score after having ending the first day on 363 for 8. Geeth's knock of 219 took him 259 balls and included 27 boundaries.

He came to the rescue of his side when they were struggling on 141 for 6 by putting on a valuable 175 runs stand for the seventh wicket with Dasun Randika who chipped in with a 69. CCC in their turn ended the day on 185 for 3.

Ishan helps Colts make bold reply

Colts made a bold reply of 250 for 5 against SSC thanks to 93 by Ishan Muthaliph which was later supported by an unbeaten 55 by Mapa Bandara at the Colts ground.

This was in reply to SSC's 372 which was backed by a knock of 147 from Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Silva who made 80.

Saram reaches 10000 runs
Ragama CC skipper Indika de Saram reached a milestone in his cricket career by scoring 10,000 runs in first class with his knock of 71 against Chilaw Marians at the FTZ ground in Katunayake yesterday.
Indika who made his debut in first class in the 1990/91 season reached the milestone in his 175th match which comprises 20 tons and 58 half tons with a top score of 237.
