An Evening with Nimal Jayamanne

The Entertainer of Ranpota… fame has decided to make a come back after a long silence in the entertainment scene. He says he has quit the Sinhala music industry due to various reasons but has stayed with his first love, Western music as it gives him immense satisfaction.

“I’ve never quit the western music scene and I never will” says the entertainer. Now that the war has ended he thinks its time to make a come back and has planned to do so with a concert with which he plans to pay tributes to his favourite singers, Engelbert and Tom Jones.

‘I have wanted to do this type of a concert for years but no one wanted get on board with me. So I eventually decided to do it on my own’ said Nimal.

The concert is planned to take place on the October 16 at the Dutch Burgher Union, Colombo 4 and will accommodate only a limited audience of two hundred. It’ll be Nimal and Nimal alone who will be featured at this concert and according to him; it’s going to be a well rehearsed performance. There are so many who can sing the songs of Engelbert but there are only a very few who can attempt Tom Jones and Nimal is one of them.

If this concert is a success Nimal hopes to promote it abroad where there are Sri Lankan expatriate communities. Tickets for the concert will be available at the D.B.U. office and at Brasstec showroom situated at the shopping arcade of Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel and are priced at Rs. 750/=.
