D.S. Senanayake College wins the ‘Best Annual Report and Accounts Competition’

D.S. Senanayake College Colombo-07 a well spoken reputed state education institute which has a short span of history of 42 years has won the Best Annual Report and Accounts Competition of National Schools for the year 2009 organized by the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the ministry of educational.

136 National schools participated in this competition by way of presenting their Annual Reports and Accounts. An Independent and well competent panel of marketing examiners were involved in the process of evaluation of the accounts and the annual reports of the SDS based on the evaluation criteria approved by the governing council. Those criteria have been designed to evaluate financial statements and annual reports forwarded by respective National schools separately. The evaluation process has been carried out by two separate panels and the final selection was reviewed by an executive committee consisting of governing council members of AATSL formulated for the overall evaluation.

The primary objective of the award competition is to recognize school development society which have achieved excellence in the preparation of Annual Reports and Accounts. The school development societies need to respond to the growing expectations of the ministry of education, parents, students and other stakeholders for greater transparency in financial reporting and other activities of the SDS.
The school development society of D.S. Senanayake College consists of 14 committees.

The chairman of the committee Dr. Asoka Senanai Hewage has appointed chairman for each committee depending on their experience and professionalism. The many development activities undertaken by the school development society under the guidance of the principal Dr. Asoka Senani Hewage and the co-operation of the parents with proper managements of the projects has lead to the winning of this prestigious award.

D.S. Senanayake College although it has a short span of history of 42 years in not second to any other leading schools in the Island for maintaining discipline and following strict procedures laid down by the ministry of education. This is a proud achievement for the school says the principal. D.S. Senanayake college is a trend setter for many development activities of the school, and it has brought in new concepts to the education of the future generation.

Under the leadership of the present principal the development activities of the school has been actively carried out by the School development society and the old boys association.. The principal has been instrumental in carrying out many development projects of the school the swimming pool, the gymnasium, the state of art computer room, the carbon neutral project are just a few to mention.
