Young Birds are champs in Nuwara Eliya

Young Birds SC Nuwara Eliya bagged the championship title for the third successive year at this year’s Mayor’s Cup Football Tournament.
The champion Young Birds of Nuwara Eliya with the guest of honour OIC Nuwara Eliya Police, Chulan Weerakone and Nuwara Eliya Municipal Councilor Mr. L. Neruji.

For their efforts Young Birds SC received Rs. 20,000/-, the Mayor’s Trophy and a special medal to mark Nuwara Eliya Football Association’s 75th year in existence.

The second place in the competition was won by Nuwara Eliya Municipality who went down fighting to Young Birds at 1-0. Third place was taken by Rangers SC.

The competition saw 15 teams vying for honours.

All arrangements for the contest was made by the President of the Nuwara Eliya Football Association and the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Councilor Mr. L. Neruji.
