Court issues notice on university and UGC

The Court of Appeal has issued notice on the University of Kelaniya and the University Grants Commission (UGC), after considering a petition filed by the University of Kelaniya’s former chief security officer.

The petitioner, K. G. Eranda Wijesiri, claims the university and the UGC had arbitrarily sent him into retirement, regardless of a circular issued by the UGC and the Government Establishment Code.

The petition was supported by Counsel Prof. (Dr) W. M. Karunadasa, instructed by Attorney Bandara Thalagune.
