Dedduwa Lake off Bentara Ganga is one of the most attractive and magnificent scene in the South Western tourism segment. This may be the main reason that Sri Lanka Tourism has bookmarked Dedduwa as one of the potential tourism development projects.

‘Shirim New Age Resort’ located on the close proximity to Dedduwa Lake on the banks of Bentara Ganga. Just four kilometres from main town Aluthgama on Elpitiya Road, ‘Shirim New Age Resort’ creates a different atmosphere from usual holiday mood.

‘Shirim New Age Resort’, though it sounds quite unusual, the place is meant for sheer relaxation of both physical and mind. Hotel Shirim, categorized as a Small charming Boutique Hotel, is just two years old.

It has five tastefully furnished rooms, an open-air restaurant with view to the river, a beautiful therapy house and a pier for boats, It is owned by Gabriele Scholler, a German, who lived in Switzerland and her Sri Lankan husband Chandika Galagama.

All 5 tastefully furnished rooms are equipped with A/C, fan, mosquito nets and beautiful attached bathrooms with hot+cold water.‘As a professional Reflexologiest, after coming back with Chandika from Switzerland five years ago, I wanted to start a therapy house along with a holiday house mainly for the visitors coming from oversea. But it has ended as up market Resort. But still I continue with my treatments for needy people’ explained Gabriele.

Hotel Shirim impress among other things by an extraordinary architecture, harmonious colours, fantastic objects and a special energy which penetrates all in an agreeable and subtle way. But also the variety of plants in the garden, the furniture made exclusively of massive wood and the extraordinary decors reveal our attention to detail and harmony.

‘The realization of Hotel Shirim took nearly three years and the idea behind was from the beginning to let come into being a “Spiritual Resort” – to create a place where body, mind and soul can extend and grow in harmony with the universe according to the current history of mankind and the earth’ Gabriele added her view on what should be a real holiday.

Shirim is also a place for Individuals who don`t wish to do anything but just relaxing, which appreciate a calm place of paradise for peace of mind. However guests will not find a phone, radio or television in the rooms. As a calm, peaceful and spiritual place we pay attention to avoid unnecessary sources of disturbance what includes also the sending out of negative invisible energies created by electric sets.

Because of the wonderful and close Bentota Beach, the various river trips, village tours and many other possible of sightseeings are available for its visitors.

‘It will be difficult to resist our ‘Fine Dining Restaurant’ which has a great view to the river, a flexible meal times… Our ‘a la carte’ menu propose you a big choice of International food, Sri Lankan food and Seafood and many preparations are home made. Also your eyes will enjoy the great and original presentation of the meals which are made with the best ingredients’ she said.

Chef Anura and his team members Malaka Priyantha and Janaka Fernando are always ready to serve the best of their choice. Fresh pressed fruit juices, milkshakes with first class creamy Ice Cream and tea are some of the popular beverages in the ‘Shirim menu’.
