Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Locked up
By Aranya Dewanarayana (13 + years) St. Joseph’s Convent, Kegalle

Rays of golden sunshine,
Streaming down my face,
Reminds me of the days,
When I lived in a heavenly place.

I had a loving family;
A caring dad, an affectionate mum,
And two naughty brothers,
But I've lost all of them!

My eyes start filling with tears,
As past memories flood my mind,
And my heart shatters into pieces,
Oh! How could humans be so unkind?

A nostalgic little lion cub like me,
Is helpless, forlorn and blue,
'Cos I'm locked up in hell,
Which humans call the zoo.
