Royal take Under 16 rugby title

The 2009 school rugby champions Royal showed that they will be a force to reckon with in the future, too, by annexing the All Island Under 16 Championship at Bogambara yesterday.

Two Kandy schools were the losers in the semis, with Dharmarajah losing in the semis to Isipathana and St. Anthony’s to Royal.

The Plate semi-finals sans plenty of action when the Thomian-Trinity and Mahanama- CWW Kannangara matches had to be decided on the toss of a coin, after full time, extra time and penalty kicks had failed to separate the teams
