US trains the Children of Cinema

A series of short films scripted, directed, edited and acted by children will be screened at 7.00 pm on August 22 at the Punchi Theatre, Borella.

Organised by the US embassy in Colombo together with the Galle Film Festival, the films will be made by 40 school children of various ethnic groups from different parts of Sri Lanka who are participating in a workshop. The ten day in house workshop from the 13-22 August is conducted by Constance Tillotson, a US Drama Specialist and Anoma Rajakaruna, film maker and photographer at the Sarvodaya Educational Development Institute in Bandaragama.

During the workshop the participants would be taught how to act, script, film, and edit short films on themes related to family, life etc. The short films would be the outcome of the workshop which will be screened for the public.
