Lion Azam Ameer appointed as District Chairman for Youth Empowerment

Vice President of the Lions Club of Mawanella Lion Azam Ameer was appointed to the District Cabinet as the District Chairman for Youth Empowerment of the International Association of Lions Clubs - District 306 C1.


Lion Azam Ameer, District Chairman for Youth Empowerment of International Association of Lions Clubs District 306 C1 installed by the Past International President, Lion Mahendra Amarasuriya.

He was installed by the Past International President Lion Mahendra Amarasuriya as the District Chairman at the District 306 C1 in the presence of the District Governor 306 C1 Lion Eng. Saliya Kaluarachi at the Installation Ceremony held at Galadari Hotel on August 1 2009.

Lion Azam started his lionistic career in 2005 from the Lions Club Mawanella. He was a Leo Club President of Mawanella before joining the Lions and also served as a Leo District Council Director. He was awarded the most outstanding Leo Club President and won several other District awards while being a Leo. He has also served in the capacity of Secretary and Director of Lions Club of Mawanella and currently he serves as the Vice President of the Lions Club of Mawanella. Lion Azam represented Sri Lanka as a delegate at the International Youth Democracy Conference which was held in Pune - India in 2007. During a discussion with the Education Times Team, Lion Azam said, as the District Chairman for Youth Empowerment he is planning to focus on the following areas:

  • Leadership Development
  • Career Guidance
  • Personality Development
  • Skills Development
  • Job Placements
  • Other key areas which will benefit the youth

Lion Azam is a past pupil of Baduriya Central College and Zahira College Mawanella. He has won several national awards in oratory and debate competitions during his school days. Currently he is working as a Relationship Manager at Amana Investments Limited.
