After A/Ls - Think outside the Box - International Scholar can help

Traditionally in Sri Lanka, students choose their courses based on preconceived ideas. Sometimes the decision as to what a student should study is made by the parents, without considering the abilities and personal attributes of the student. Also there is a marked lack of planning when making career decisions by students contemplating higher studies.

Needless to say this is not the best way to choose the future career directions in the life of a young person. This activity should be given much deeper thought and if necessary proper advice needs to be sought. This activity is analogous to laying the foundation for a large structure.

It is important to choose a career that fits the likes, dislikes and abilities of a student. Another factor to take note of when making study choices is the future career cum lifestyle aspirations of a student. These are questions that a student needs to answer and correct answers can be found only by the student. Others can help the student to find answers but they cannot find the answers for the student.

At International Scholar we have helped thousands of students find a career that fits best. Our advice is solely based on what is best for the student. There is no obligation on the part of the student to accept our advice or use our services. Our advisors are professionals with many years of experience of studying, working and living overseas.

To undertake a comprehensive counselling programme, the counsellor needs to have an in depth knowledge of the courses available and the benefits of undertaking a particular course in a particular destination. In the contemporary education milieu, there is a host of subject areas on offer to match the requirements of even the choosiest of students. Sometimes the same subject area is referred to by different names.

The counsellor should be a well informed individual who has researched current data on all subject areas. It is only then that a counsellor can match what is available to what the students want. Also, it is helpful to know what students can do after they qualify, what work and practical training options are available in each country.

The planning phase should ideally start early and should not have been left until the Advanced Level results are out. One sure way to do this is to contact International Scholar Educational Services (Pvt) Limited ( ISES ) on 011 2553466 or 2593 571.

In the "Global Village" the opportunities are many. To take advantage of the opportunities available, a well thought out strategy needs to be put in place which in turn requires careful planning.
