Sri Lankan student brings out his best at Singapore Institute of Management (SIM)

Coming from Sri Lanka, Singapore epitomizes a haven of peace and tranquility for Mr. Jude Kumar, 19, who is currently pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Business (Management) from SIM-RMIT.
He had a choice to study in either Australia or Singapore but he chose the latter when his friends described the country as "Heaven on Earth". "After coming here, I would agree to their description fully," he nodded.

"Of course, there were other advantages - cost of education, security - and then, the organised way of living as well," he said. "Singapore is well-balanced and unlike other developed countries, there is still culture. I knew that this was the country I wanted to be in when I saw pictures of Singapore. Having come from a country where there is war around, the people here are very different.

Whether in malls or restaurants, they are very friendly. They are genuinely concerned about you," he enthused. He was also struck by the diversity in the campus. "It is quite amazing to see how different people from different backgrounds work so well together and have fun at the same time. It has been a good experience so far and I get to spend a lot of quality time with quality people."

Once he enrolled in SIM, he threw himself into the various student activities to hone his leadership skills. He is part of the Events Team of the RMIT council, and a Resident Leader at the SIM Halls of Residence where he is currently staying.

"As a Resident Leader we are supposed to be there for the residents in case they need any help and organise various activities to make life here at the hostel more vibrant," said Jude, who had just finished organising a BBQ dinner event for his fellow hostellers.

Staying in the campus is a lot of fun.
"You can hang out, play a bit of pool, watch a movie on the big plasma screen or just chat the night away. The student lounge is well equipped and it is accessible till 3 in the morning. I adore the hostel and it just adds to the whole college experience.

It even has supermarkets and restaurants nearby. I would give it a perfect score."
