The official website and the music album of Preasanna Vithanage’s latest movie ‘Akasa Kusum’ (Flowers of the Sky) which had already won international acclaim was released at Namel-Malini, Punchi theatre, Borella last week.
The film, a story about an ageing film star, won the coveted ‘Silver Peacock’ Award at the last Indian International Film Festival for Malini Fonseka who plays the lead role as Sandhya Rani. The film also won a Special Jury Mention at the Vesoul Film Festival in France and the NETPAC Award for Best Asian Film at the third Cines del Sur Festival in Grana Spain.
In addition it was also screened at a number of International Film Festivals including Pusan, New York (Saiff), Kerala and Palm Springs.
Produced by H. D. Premasiri for Sarasavi Cineru and A. Sreekar Prasad for Film Freaks, the film stars Malini, Nimmi Harasgama, Dilhani Ekanayake, Samanalee Fonseka, Kaushalya Fernando and Jayani Senanayake and is soon to be released on CEL circuit cinemas including Regal, Colombo.
