‘Albatross’ : Golfing holidays in Digana

Golf is not very popular among Sri Lankan sports lovers. But for some, it is an addiction. The game Golf always goes hand in hand with nature and soothing environment.

Victoria Golf links in Digana is the latest attraction for Sri Lanakn and foreign golfers around the world.
The Albatross Golfing and Holiday Resorts is one of the best located resorts in the Victoria Golf arena by the banks of Mahaweli.

Albatross has a bird’s eye view of the 18 hole golf course and the picturesque Victoria reservoir below.

Albatross has a uniquely designed structure embedded on the slopes of The ‘Coconut Hill’ located within the Victoria Golf Complex and provides an unparalleled panorama of a well known Kandyan mountains such as Hunnasgiriya, Knuckles Range and Hantane. Ancient Bambaragala temple is in the close vicinity and the place where Hulu Ganga flows to the Victoria reservoir is just ten minutes walk from the resort.

The concept and location of the Resort provides a truly unique and memorable experience. The resort consists of five elegantly furnished rooms with attached toilets and other facilities such as private dining , satellite TV and DVD. ‘The Diners Deck’ overlooking the dam is a fine place to spend an evening. It provides an ideal atmosphere for fine dining. said Ranjith Benedict Wijetilleka, the master Chef/ Manager of the resort.

The resort offers an excellent selection of food available as set menu and a-la-carte with a good selection of wines. ‘We always cater to the needs of our guests. Cuisine is more to typical golfer’s choice and traditionally Colonial style. But we offer Sri Lankan dishes as well as oriental’ said
Chef Benedict has years of experience behind him and is a veteran in the field of food. He was with John Keells hotels and had even worked for the Club Oceanic hotel in Trincomalee.

The lounge and dining area adorns a beautifully turfed viewing deck with a special area for BBQ and other open air meals.A well designed swimming pool with a Jacuzzi and sun bathing deck overlooks the scenic landscape.

‘This unit consists of steam and sauna facilities’ he added A separate massage room where the special masseur Anura Wijasuriya will be available at all times. The other attraction of the hotel is ‘Hawk-Eye Pool & Bar’ The Theme bar is the latest addition of the Boutique Resort.

‘Our ‘theme bar’ is creatively designed carrying well chosen artifacts and memorabilia connected with Golf and that of the finest wines and liquors of the world. It is complete with a pool table and other indoor recreational facilities’ Benedict said. The Resort itself is wholly owned by The Ranfer Group of Companies.
