| Sampath Bank out to
retain title |

The 5th Open Mercantile Chess Championships organized by the Mercantile Chess association of Sri Lanka will be worked off on 21st of December at the Lions Activity centre auditorium.
This championship will be organized as a individual event according to the Swiss system and number of rounds will be announced at the tournament.
The results of the three players who have the best performance in a team will be counted for the team championships.
In the last Year’s team Championships Sampath Bank became the winners in both the A and B Divisions. This year too they will be going all out to keep the title.
SriLankan Airlines and Aviva Global Services P/L became first and second runner up in the A Division respectively
In the B Division Sampath Bank B and Seylan Merchant Bank became the first and second runner up respectively. MAS Holdings’ Athula Russell became the individual champion. (SI) |
