This eagle can soar no more

By Gamini Mahadura

A businessman who found a large eagle lying on the ground in the Pitigala area promptly handed over the injured bird to a veterinary surgeon’s clinic in Elpitiya. The bird had burn injuries after coming into contact with a high tension electricity wire.

The bird’s wings had to be cut as they were badly burned. The bird was later handed over to the wild life office at Hikkaduwa.

Wild Life officers who fed the eagle with fish had to cage the bird as it is now unable to fly.
