Funday Times - A Poem for the week

The wind
By Kiki Wilson (12 years) English Academy, Negombo

I hold my breath; listen in fear,
The dreadful sounds draw near.
I see it speeding thru' the night,
Crashing and dashing all in sight.

My nest is in the c'nut tree,
Strong and never bending.
But the wind is blowing the tree tops off,
And I feel the whole world
spinning.

"So please Mr. Wind give a thought,
Before you spin your mighty wrath,
Or my entire family will be gone,
Long before the break of dawn.

Slow down your reckless pace,
Before you speed away in haste,
Taking in your destructive path,
What's dearest and nearest to my heart!"
