 The fourth annual prize-giving ceremony of Springfield College Kandy, held on the 26th October at the Trinity College Hall was both a prestigious and colorful event.
The chief guest, his worship, L.B Aluvihare, Mayor of Kandy and his wife Mrs.Aluvihare were most impressed by the splendid organization and the dignity and discipline with which all segments of this important ceremony were conducted. His worship, in a most thought provoking speech, made special mention of the fact that all religions - Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and Islam were given equal prominence in the invocations that were made at the inauguration of the ceremony, which he said was a special feature that was absent in other celebrations he had attended.
 The credit for the flawless manner in which the entire ceremony was conducted is no doubt due to the tireless efforts of Mr. Gamini Goonawardene, the Managing Director and the Board of Directors, the dynamic principal of Springfield College, Mrs. Chandrika Atmaram and her qualified and dedicated tearn of teachers and last but not least, the well trained and disciplined committee of prefects;.
The special invitees, parents and well wishers too, were deeply appreciative of the manner in which the little kids and the senior-most students conducted themselves throughout the entire proceedings.
Springfield College has done well in the past 6 years and can boast of being on par with the leading International Schools in Kandy. Springfield has gone from strength to strength and is no doubt blessed with a bright and prosperous future! |
