Colombo indices fall; more profit taking seen

Wednesday morning saw the Colombo indices easing with stock analysts saying there will not be any turning back on this trend.

“This trend will not turn back mainly because there are some ‘margin calls’ coming in – where investor shares are being forced-sold by stock brokers,” Vajira Premawardhana, Executive Director, Lanka Orix Securities said.

He said the same negative sentiments that prevailed early this week will be seen throughout and also there will be lack of investor participation. The All Share Index was down by 22.94 points to 1,662.30 while the Milanka eased by 19.29 points to 1,801 in early trades. Turnover was Rs 36.2 million then..
