Fighting in Kilinochchi: 120 LTTE and 27 soldiers killed

Heavy fighting between government troops and Tamil rebels on Sunday in Kilinochchi claimed the lives of at least 120 rebels and 27 soldiers, the Defence Ministry reported.

The fighting was reported around the outskirts of Kilinochchi.

During the clashes on Sunday 70 soldiers and 80 rebels were also injured.

The Defence ministry said the Army’s 57 Division (57 Div) and Task Force 1 (TF 1) laid siege to the symbolic LTTE stronghold, the Kilinochchi built up on Sunday morning on three frontiers..
