Buses back to Galle Road, after court ruling?

All passenger buses traveling between Kollupitiya junction to Vajira road junction will operate on Galle road for two hours Sunday morning from 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. as part of a rehearsal before deciding whether buses should operate only on Galle road instead of the Duplication road.

The decision follows a Supreme Court order in which the police were directed to operate bus services on the Galle road as the public were inconvenienced.

Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekara a decision would be taken on how the system would be implemented, after the rehearsal.

Earlier all buses operated along Galle road, until the Police decided to permit buses towards Moratuwa along the Duplication road and made it a one way road from Kollupitiya junction to Vajira road junction. Buses on Galle road travelled along Duplication road and entered the Galle road from Bambalapitiya junction. The road between Bambalapitiya junction to Kollupitiya along Galle road was also made a one way road towards Kollupitiya..
