Colombo indices fall in line with regional markets

Colombo stocks, along with the fall in the regional markets, droppedl on Friday morning with stock analysts saying this trend is to be expected during the coming week as well.

“Colombo indices are mirroring the regional fall and this will be the trend starting next Monday as well,” Thakshila Hulangamuwa, Vice President Business Development Asha Phillips said. The All Share Index was down by 27.38 points to 1,893.19 while the Milanka eased by 46 points to 2,124.91 just before noon. Turnover was Rs 136 million then.

On the budget, some analysts said it hasn’t directly impacted the stock market. “Indirectly by way of the numerous taxes there might be an impact for firms in the manufacturing sector,” an analyst said.
