2008-11-04 17:41:53

Parliament approved the extension of the state of emergency by another month today with 85 MPs voting for the motion and 10 against it.

The UNP abstained form voting while the TNA MPs voted against it. The JVP supported the extension of the emergency.

Leader of the House Nimal Siripala De Silva said that despite the LTTE air attacks, no attempt should be made to devalue the work being done by the members of the security forces.” Making a big issue of the air attacks is only helping the LTTE,” he said.
