Now trouble brewing in Co-op Banks

New legislation, hard on the heels of the Sakvithi financial scam and rising concern about other deposits in unlicensed institutions, is to be introduced to protect depositors in cooperative rural banks, thrift and credit societies and lending institutions.

 
Bribery Commission summons PBJ over LMSL deal
Former Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera, who was criticized by the Supreme Court for a corrupt deal in the privatization of Lanka Marine Services Limited (LMSL), was summoned before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on Wednesday where his statement was recorded.
