Colombo stocks lackluster

Colombo stocks after the indices drop last Friday started this week (Monday) on a slightly active note, but towards late morning it was sluggish with brokers predicting this trend to continue late today.

While state agency officers appeared before the Supreme Court to explain what action they have taken so far with regard to the July judgment in the Lanka Marine Services Ltd Fundamental Rights case, its parent company, John Keells Holdings gained 75 cents to Rs 87, trading 344,800 shares and injecting the stock market with some momentum in the morning.

Sri Lanka Telecom was also up 75 cents to Rs 42.75 while Lanka IOC gained 50 cents to Rs 25.25 in early trades. The All Share Index fell 0.31 points to 2,207.68 while the Milanka decreased 2.19 points to 24821.06 in the morning. The stock market turnover was Rs 65 million.
