The Colombo Toastmasters Club announced the installation of its 25th Executive Committee recently. A special feature this year would be the presentation of public speaking training programmes for key government officers and the best and brightest high school students under the presidential theme “Creating people of value for our nation’s progress”.

The Club will continue to offer its premium Speech Craft Program to top companies. The Executive Committee is the highest policy formulation and operating body of The Colombo Toastmasters Club. The Board’s general focus is the Toastmasters value of “service to member”: a commitment to give every Club member the best possible training in public speaking and leadership, a statement from the club said.

The Colombo Toastmasters Club counts as its alumni/members entrepreneur industrialist Mahesh Amalean, the father of advertising in Sri Lanka the late Reggie Candappa, and corporate training Guru Haleem Ghouse. The Club has trained over 600 members in public speaking and leadership skills. Furthermore, the Club’s community outreach programmes – the Youth Leadership Program and the Speech Craft Programme – have unleashed the communication and leadership skills of more than 1,500 high school students and corporate executives. In making such contributions to Sri Lanka’s progress, the Colombo Toastmasters Club has become truly a national asset, the club said in a press release.
