Medhani Wickramanayake, a grade 7 student of Sri Sangamitta Girls National School-Matale made her alma mater proud by establishing a new record in the Under 13 girls 200 metre event in the MILO Junior John Tarbet Athletic Championships 2008 concluded recently at the Embilipitiya Mahaweli Stadium - Embilipitiya.

She established a new record in the 200 metre event by finishing the distance in 27.8 seconds to erase the previous best of 27.9 seconds set by Nethmi De Silva of Musaeus College-Colombo in 2006. In the 100 metre event, she finished the distance with a timing of 13.2 seconds to equal the record set by Nethmi De Silva in 2006.
