American & Efird helps Sri Lanka’s Boxing

Leading thread maker, American & Efird Lanka (A&E) recently pledged its support as the main sponsor for boxing in Sri Lanka. This year is particularly important in Sri Lanka’s boxing calendar as all eyes will be on Anuruddha Ratnayake – the first boxer in 40 years to represent the country at the Olympics in Beijing, the company said.

General Manager Sales and Marketing, Angelo Leanage said: “The professional approach of the Amateur Boxing Association, the immense hard work they have put in, coupled with the progress the sport has made leaves no doubts in our minds about the value of continuing our support for this sport.”
As part of this sponsorship, A&E will support teams fielded by the Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (ABASL) at local and international events and receive naming rights at the main tournaments conducted by the ABASL in 2008, he said.

One of the cleanest manufacturing operations in Sri Lanka, the ISO 14001-1996 Environmental Management System certified A&E Lanka accounts for 40 per cent of the market for sewing and embroidery thread in Sri Lanka. The company produces an extensive range of sewing thread in 1050 standard colours and in dyed-to-order special colours to match individual customer requirements. The company is also the sole distributor for Lurex Metallic Thread in Sri Lanka and the region.
