Trinity in second half rally

By Aubrey Kuruppu

What a difference the break made! Trinity looked slightly jolted by their opponents' forays early on and missed passes were very much in evidence. At half time, Trinity had clawed their way back into the match and had a 15-9 lead. However they cut loose in the second half to decimate Vidyartha by 60 points (5 goals, 5 tries) to 9 (3 penalties) at Nittawela yesterday.

Early Penalties by Tharaka Dissanaike and Hirindu Wijeratne put Vidyartha ahead at 6-0. Ruzmi Ramzeen, the number eight, scored first for Trinity and tries followed from centre Kennon Armstrong and prop Riyazi as Trinity edged through 15-9 at lemons.

The Vidyartha lads seemed to have run out of steam and were mere punch-bags thereafter as the Trinitians played some roistering rugby. Fly half Fahad was very impressive indeed and showed the ability to think on his feet. Tiny fly half Hameed was a delight to watch as he scampered here and there to provide super service to Fahad.

Shenon Armstrong, Idris Omar, Ishrath Singhalakshana, Hameed, Ramzeen and left winger Visvajith Wijesinghe (3 tries) joined the party. Kennon Armstrong converted

five tries.
This was two out of two for the Lions who had earlier devoured Isipatana. The message for Trinity's opponents is that they should be harried and put under pressure continuously. If they do get on top, they are difficult to subdue.
Referee - Imran Cader.
Under 14 Trinity 35 Vidyartha 0
