Poll cards postman killed

The bullet-riddled body of a postman attached to the Kanniyai sub post office in the Trincomalee district was found on Friday night, Police said.

The man identified as Jacob Sathyaseelan, (46) had left the sub post office at 5.00 p.m and his body was found when his wife came looking for him due to the delay in his returning home.

His body had been recovered last night around 7.45 p.m. about 1 kilometre away from the post office. Kanniyai Police said they are unable to confirm whether it was an election-related death.

The postman was among those involved in the distribution of poll cards.
