‘Stat Day’ at Colombo University on May 8

The “Stat Circle” of the University of Colombo has organized their annual ‘Stat Day’ for the sixth consecutive time on May 8. One of the main activities in the calendar of the stat circle, this annual event, is organized with the aim of stimulating interest in statistics among students, academia and industry, the organisers said.

Guest speaker at the event is Palitha Sarukalli, President of the Applied Statisticians Association while the keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Tariq Marikar, Director of Suntel Pvt Limited. Students and academics from all the universities in the country as well as many prominent figures of private and government organization will participate in the event.

The “Stat Circle”, a society formed by the students of the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, was formed with the objective of enhancing the statistical knowledge of both students and the outside community. It also aims at providing a link to communicate and exchange ideas with other Societies, Universities and the Industry.
