‘Diri Daru Piyasa’: Miranda's haven for differently abled

Miranda Hemalatha

Well known dancing guru, Miranda Hemalatha has initiated another worthy cause with 'Diri Daru Piyasa' a fine art and vocational training centre for differently abled children. Foundation stone will be laid for the building, a residential institute for down syndrome, differently abled and slow learning children at River Road, Kindelpitiya on April 21, 2008.

Miranda received a plot of land as a donation being a token of gratitude for her untiring effort to uncover and promote the abilities of differently abled children in the remote parts of Sri Lanka.

Miranda showed the rare talents of differently abled children with her concert 'Diriya Narthana' in 2004. Impressed by her effort the public supported her good cause. Over the years she has served as educationist, researcher and performer in the field of performing arts.

Miranda Hemalatha’s Kala Adhramaya seek further public support to complete the building of the institute. Further details could be had from Miranda Hemalatha Kala Ashramaya, 189, Old Road, Nawinna, Maharagama. Telephone 0112842050.
