SLTA differences pile on

By Harry Jayachandra

The vice president of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) Seevali Wanigasekera has forwarded a strong letter to its presidential contender Suresh Subremainum on the wake of their Annual General meeting which is scheduled to be held next Saturday.

In this letter the vice president refers to some spurious e-mails forwarded by some of the members and calls for an amicable no-contest pact, where the president elect Janaka Bogollagama would continue for one more year and Subremaium takes overs as chairman of selectors.

Bogollagama was seeking a second term as SLTA’s president.

Hr also reiterates his willingness to offer his present position as Vice President/SLTA to accommodate Past President Mr. Lalith Withana as a Vice President and for him to be a normal Committee Member, in an attempt to bring harmony among its membership.

However Wanigasekera also points out if the Subremaium camp is to retract on their promise he too would once again join the fray in election to the position of the General Secretary of the SLTA.
