Nirmal Fernando takes over as Senior Partner / Country Head - KPMG

Nirmal Fernando, Partner of KPMG Ford, Rhodes, Thornton & Co. is taking over as Senior Partner of the firm with effect from April 2008.

He counts over 42 years of service with the firm including 33 years as a Partner and has been instrumental in managing the Audit practice of the firm for over a decade and was also responsible for leading the key client programme in Sri Lanka. He takes over office from Rajan Asirwatham who served the firm for over four decades and managed the firm in an intensely challenging time, which experienced increased regulatory requirements, changes in accounting practices and business competitiveness requirements, the company said this week.

Fernando, discussing the company’s future direction, said KPMG Ford, Rhodes, Thornton & Co., will continue to maintain its direction with core focus on the firm’s clients, people, markets and CSR activities.

KPMG in Sri Lanka has over 600 employees and operates seven branches in the island and an overseas branch in the Maldives.
