Annesley sings for ‘Sri Lankan Nights’ at Galadari

Popular singer Annesley Malawana and his band 'Super Chimes' are the latest attraction at the Coffee Shop of the Galadari Hotel. Annesley and 'Super Chimes' started their latest stint at the Galadari every Saturday night commencing March 1. Waiters in colourful island shirts, intricately woven cane baskets, Sri Lankan batik wall hangings and the Sri Lankan baila by Annesley created the new Lankan atmosphere at the Coffee Shop.

Annesley, who has a wealth of experience in leading bands and who has been in the music industry for over 40 years, formed this band in 2004. The Super Chimes, who catered to the oriental audience at the beginning, has now changed into a dance band while keeping its original identity. 'The Band can play anything from Sinhala classics, Sinhala pops, songs of Moonstones, Super Golden Chimes and music for dancing mixed with hits of 60's and 70's' said Annesley.

The Super Chimes comprises Annesley Malawana - lead singer, Jagath Kulasinghe on drums and vocals, Channa Athalage on lead guitar, Dimantha Seneviratne on keyboards, Prashan Fernando on guitar/vocals, Gihan Shalinda on bass/Vocals. The Band provided musical backing for Annesley's latest CD titled 'Thotiya'.

'Sri Lankan Night' buffet dinner will comprise of many delicious and popular Sri Lankan dishes, the spicy concoctions will be prepared by popular Chef Lloyd Opatha and his team. The traditional wide spread dinner buffet will offer a variety of dishes to choose from. Such as Ranwan Ismoru appa, Kottu Roti, Appa, String Hoppers, Pittu, Badapu Mallu Pethi, Kukulmas Kalu Pol and lagoon fresh prawns.

The desserts include steam Bibikkan with Anodha Ice cream, Pol Pani cake, Lavariya and many more. All these mouth watering dishes will be blended with scintillating music, bailas, Sinhala pop, Sinhala classics and Sinhala dance music sung by popular Sri Lankan artiste Annesley Malawana, who will serenade the guests, while they savour delicious and authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.
