A better understanding of Lord Buddha

Book re-released in memory of Upali Wijewardene

As its title suggests, Buddhu Maga is a simply presented and interesting representation of Lord Buddha's life on earth, enlightenment and attaining Nirvana. In addition to this, a detailed description has also been given on Buddhist philosophy and history.

Buddhu Maga was first published in 1990, in remembrance of business tycoon and publisher Upali Wijewardene. It is to be re-released this year, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the disappearance of Mr. Wijewardene. Born on February 17, 1938, Upali Wijewardene was educated at Royal College and furthered his education at Cambridge. He went on to become one of the country’s most successful businessmen.

Buddhu Maga is compiled by Ven Induruwe Sumanasara Thera, Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thera, Ven.Weligepola Seelavansa Thera, Ven. Madhola Nandaratne Thera, Ven. Kollupitiye Mahinda Thera, P.W. Gunasekera and Wimal Abeysuriya.

"The purpose of this book is to educate children and adults, Buddhist and non- Buddhist, on Lord Buddha's way of life and the guiding principles of the Buddhist philosophy,” says Ven. Galboda GnanissaraThera in his introduction to the book. "The facts are presented in a manner which will enable the book to reach a wide audience."
