SUPER STAR - ‘SEASON-3’ CLARIFICATION

Bernard Fernando of Moratuwa writes.....

Though it is not my wish to enter in to a protracted correspondence on this subject, I am compelled to respond to Mr. Coo ray's letter to TV Times on 20th Jan. whereby he genuinely seeks clarification from me with regard to the selection of an equal number of male and female contestants for the final round.

First and foremost, in any contest which adopts an elimination method, the selection of the best can be done only from among those who apply and present themselves at such contest.

This scenario itself imposes a restriction for selecting the' best' in the Country, since the more skilled and potential candidates may still not apply to participate due to various reasons. Thus, a contest may even end up in selecting the 'Best' out of the 'worse'!

If this realty is well understood, we will not have any problem in selecting the best 25 Males and best 25 females from two separate merit lists of contestants derived from several rounds of elimination.

Finally, Iam thankful to the Editor TV Times, Mr. Coo ray as well as other writers for their encouraging comments on the subject and trust that the organizers of 'Season 3'will take due cognizance of our suggestions and act accordingly.
