Over the weekend the weather gods appeared to be worrying. Massive dark low hanging clouds looked threatening but as tea time got nearer the harassing clouds drifted to give way to Mr. Sunshine to penetrate and give the Ridgeways glorious playing conditions.President Lalin Samarawickrema has now been identified after one year of stewardship as one of the finest and most effective Presidents in a very long time. He took complete control of the existing untidiness and even stretched to control the Captian's impetuous and sometimes autocratic style of administration. Peace and sanity now prevails and it is hoped that the year of stewardship of the Office Bearers & Committee ends rewardingly. We will know end March at the AG.M.

Splendid Sangani
Young Suhayb a stunningly attractive stroke player with a sparkling future before him provided his academic pursuits do not step in to alert him about a better world with higher education. He had 2 great rounds to total 137 nett and collect the Samarawickrema Trophy amidst resounding applause at the award ceremony. Roschen Perera a 10 Handicapper came pretty good with an excellent 1st round nett 66. He faltered a little in the 2nd round to end nett 73. He totaled 139 to get behind Sangani by 2 strokes.

Early efforts
Julian Dias sparkled with the lowest nett score 64 on the 1st day to collect a special award beating Kushal Johnpillai by 2 strokes. On the 2nd day Suhayb Sangani, A.H. Sherifdeen & Sheron Fernando settled on nett 67 each and after a count back Sangani was identified as the best with Sheriffdeen taking 2nd place. Sheron Fernando carried the distinction of striking the best gross score 72.

Centurions & Confetti
35 enthusiasts cracked earth moving, pond visiting centuries in style with Jit Wanigasekera, Manjula Karunaratne & Nimal Ranasinghe raising havoc but still promising to get back to better times soon. Nilkamal Perera had one massive mourn complaining that each time he was dead accurate putting, the flag and hole moved depriving him of many one put achievements. Channaka Seneviratne said he was happy – "Even though. I messed around".

Award ceremony
The Ceremony was short and crisp with Lalin Samarawickrema making a crowd pleasing eloquent speech. He emphasized the importance and significance of traditions without which he said "You might as well perish". A capacity crowd sat over a classy Oriental Buffet Lunch laced with Remy Martins & Havanas. The hospitality was quite intoxicating. Much credit to Course Secretary Sanjeewa Wickremanayake & Restaurant Secretary Rohan Fernando for their substantial contributions towards the absolute success Of the Captains Cup.
