MSC’s Aslam clinch Eight Ball Pool title

MSC’s S.H.M. Aslam clinched the Eight Ball Pool national title when he defeated M.M. Mubeen of Embassy Pool Parlour by eleven frames to eight in the 21 frame final played at the Apex Pool Parlour table in Borella yesterday.

Aslam a prominent cueist of Sri Lanka was the national snooker runner up on four occasions 2000, 02, 03 and 05 and also is the national billiards runner up of 2007 before playing second fiddle in the Eight Ball Pool national last year.

He had a clean record before advancing to the Eight Ball Pool final winning all his round robin matches and moving to the knockout stage. Mubeen on the other hand was unlucky as he had also entered the Nine Ball Pool final which is being held concurrently.

His opponent is his conqueror Aslam’s club mate M.J.A. Thasleem. The final of the Nine Ball Pool was scheduled to be conducted late in the night yesterday which will also to be played over 21 frames. K.A. Milton Perera of Lover Boat beat Gamini Devapriya of Embassy Pool Parlour by five frames to nil in the nine frame in the battle for the third slot.
