Delmege to market ready-to-assemble houses

The Delmege Group is getting into the business of ready-to-use, pre-fabricated houses with a Netherlands-based company.
Its subsidiary, Delmege Interior Décor [Pvt] Ltd was recently appointed agents for Asian Cottages for Sri Lanka, India and the Maldives.

Asian Cottages is an internationally reputed company, designing and fabricating traditional and original Asian, hardwood cottages with an authentic Asian ambience. The products are exported worldwide including to European destinations such as France and Germany.

Delmege Interior’s Managing Director Nilantha Fernando said Asian Cottages adds to an impressive list of agencies like Brintons carpets, Shaw Industries, the world’s largest manufacturer of carpets, Hunter Douglas - a world leader in ceiling systems and Gerflor, France’s largest manufacturer of vinyl.

Asian Cottage’s Managing Director, Rob E. Lucas said the company has a manufacturing plant in Indonesia with over 65,000 hectares of forest where it has been building pre fabricated houses for both the domestic as well as the leisure markets for over 10 years, using timber that is suitable for Asian countries.

He stressed the fact that Asian Cottages is an Eco label, as the company replants young trees into the local forest, replacing the trees that are used in construction.

“The houses will be built out of two types of wood which have been found to be most suitable to tropical climates and weather conditions, namely Bangkirai and Keruin, both of which are of Class 1 durability as well as being termite resistant,” said Lucas. A 10 year warranty will be given on the full structure. “In addition we also provide both standard as well as custom made doors and windows.”
