Training programme on 'Mental Health Practice and Research'

A training programme on 'Mental Health Practice and Research' for researchers and practitioners in the field of mental health in Sri Lanka will be held from January 21 to 26 at the Institute of Psychiatry of the Angoda Teaching Hospital. The training will be conducted by academic and clinical staff of McGill University, Montreal, Canada in association with the staff of the Angoda Teaching Hospital.

Health Ministry Secretary Dr. Athula Kahandaliyanage will inaugurate the programme. This training is part of the four-year McGill Trauma and Global Health Programme of research and capacity building involving field work in the four countries of Sri Lanka, Nepal, Peru and Guatemala.

The Sri Lanka Programme which began on April 1, last year with field work in Hambantota, Puttalam and Batticaloa districts is organized by the People's Rural Development Association.
