No ENT Surgeon at Trinco hospital

The one-hundred year old Trincomalee general hospital has been serving the entire population of the district without an ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon since it was upgraded five years ago. The Trincomalee hospital was built during the British regime.

As a result, patients, most of them poor, from all over from the district seeking treatment for ENT ailments, are forced to travel to hospitals in Kurunegala, Kandy, Batticaloa and Colombo for specialized treatment.

It is learnt that Orr's Hill Gramodaya Mandalaya has sent an urgent appeal to the Health Minister to take immediate steps to post an ENT surgeon to the hospital to alleviate the suffering of ENT patients.
