Leo Burnett Solutions Inc. (LBSI) says it maintained its position as Sri Lanka’s most creative agency, by winning a grand total of 14 awards at the 2007 Reggie Candappa Craft Awards – the Reggies. At the awards, LBSI walked away with the highest number of accolades for the night, once again topping the table, and concluding the year as Sri Lanka’s most awarded agency, the company said.

Of special significance was LBSI’s receipt of three of the most coveted awards for the night which included the Best Concept in TV for Stage Light & Magic’s Noir Theatre festival for the commercial created by Creative Director Anusha Wijeyaratne, Best Cinematography for Mobitel’s “New Teacher” commercial, focusing on Mobitel’s coverage which was conceptualised and directed by LBSI’s Subash Pinnapola, Creative Director. LBSI was also awarded “Best Logo design” for their in-house identity, the interpretation of the network’s global mantra “Reaching for the stars”. These awards were of even greater significance as they signaled the agency’s continuing strength in creativity, especially in the TV medium.

The agency has received many awards in the past for its work in TV, including the only TV Gold for two consecutive years at the Sri Lankan Advertising Awards – the Chillies - in 2006 and 2007. Also in the TV category, along with major wins for Best Concept TV and Cinematography, LBSI received accolades for “1st Runner-up – Best Direction TV” (for Mobitel’s “New Teacher”), “2nd Runner-up – Best Concept TV” (for GoodKnight’s “Slaps”), and “Merit Award - Best Art Direction TV” (for Sri Lanka Telecom Rainbow Pages’ “Wedding”).

LBSI’s spectacular result in the TV category was further enhanced by its winning entries in the Radio and Print categories. In Radio, LBSI achievements included “2nd Runner-up – Best Radio Direction” (for Hilton Colombo’s “Zorro”) and “Merit Award - Best Original Composition” (for Hilton Colombo’s “Kotthu”). In addition, an innovative radio spot for Sri Lanka Insurance titled “Stand Up for Life” distinguished itself by receiving “2nd Runner-up – Best Original Composition” honours.

While in the Print category, the award for “2nd Runner-up – Best Use of Logo” was won for Otara Gunewardena’s Embark initiative. LBSI also received several other print awards including “Merit Award – Best in Art Direction Print” (for Hilton Colombo’s “Snail”), “Merit Award – Best in Art Direction Print” (for Jetwing Hotel Vil Uyana’s “Solitude”), and “Merit Award – Best Use of Illustration” (for Ozific Lanka Tim Tam).
