Mervyn’s conduct: SLFP report out in 2 weeks

Mervyn at Rupavahini

The three-member committee appointed by the SLFP Central Committee to probe the conduct of Minister Mervyn Silva will submit its report within two weeks.

The committee is headed by Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva. Committee member John Seneviratne said the committee will not only probe the Rupavahini incident but also look into past incidents involving Minister Silva.

Mr. Silva along with his bodyguards had stormed the SLRC on December 27 and one of his bodyguards had allegedly assaulted the News Director T.M.G. Chandrasekara.

The bodyguard Nuwan Udaya Gunatillaka who is in remand was refused bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate Nishantha Hapuarachchi on Friday. The case will be taken up on January 11.
