Jetwing’s contribution to the environment

The Jetwing Eternal Earth Project, also known as J.E.E.P. is the group’s latest project and will contribute towards minimizing global warming and its effects for the benefit of mankind, a company spokesperson said.

It's a model reforestation at Jetwing Hunas Falls, Elkaduwa, to educate school children around the country on 'Good Earth Saving Practices'. This is to help absorb the world’s carbon emissions, she said.

Its primary objectives include creating a model of re-forestation at Jetwing land that can be replicated and adapted for many climatic zones as well as in small scale plots of land, involve hotel guests, staff and the local communities to get them involved and establish the “Earth Centre” at Hunas Falls Hotel to make the knowledge that Jetwing has gathered available.

J.E.E.P. also hopes to be associated with the Earth Lung project initiated by Sri Lanka Tourism as a responsible tourism partner, to extend the Jetwing Green Directory for community education, where possible establish composting of bio-degradable garbage to be used for nurseries at hotels and in foster schools to teach hotel staff and school children practice of garbage management and the underlying reasons.

Compost bins will be given to children who successfully operate nurseries and Jetwing will also establish a model bio-gas plant at Hunas Falls Hotel that can be replicated at numerous locations. The minimum investment for this project is to plant one tree but there is no upper limit.
