New Year bashes around the city

Another year has come to an end and everybody is excited about the New Year to be. Most of the city hotels are planning gala nights to usher New Year. Some of the top names in the music scene are billed to rock the revellrs throughout the night to the New Year.

Rajiv and then will be the top attraction of 'Ultra Nite 2007' at the Ceylon Continental Hotel on December 31. Rajiv and the boys along with DJ Shiran will rock with dazzling entertainment to herald 2008 in real style and class at the Sapphire Ballroom of the hotel. A grand celebration with up beat music, cuisine and a unique array of special prizes and surprises are in store as part of the Continental Ultra Nite 2007. The tickets for the 'Ultra Nite 2007' are priced at Rs. 5500/- per head.

The band Lazer and the DJs will come alive at the Terrace of the Mount Lavinia Hotel on December 31. Natash and Judy will be the guest stars of the night. Evergreen 'Sam The Man' will be in action at the Empire Ballroom on New Year's Eve. Apart from all the New Years activities at all corners of the Hotel, the main attraction will be the grand fire works display at the 12 midnight to welcome the New Year. The Terrace tickets are priced at Rs 10,000/- per head inclusive with grand buffet dinner.

As the curtain goes down on year 2007, the Galadari Hotel will be setting the scene for Colombo's most illustrious night of entertainment and celebrations.

California Grill will provide a dramatic setting to celebrate New Year's Eve in true international style. The Celebrations will be accompanied by the superb music and an exciting candle light dinner menu of exquisite and distinctive cuisine. The rhythms of music by Ernest Francis Combo will come alive at the California Grill on New Year's Eve. Heat and DJ Effex will be the top attraction at the Grand Ballroom's Family Gala Dinner Dance.

Special Room Package on Bed, Breakfast and inclusive of Family Dinner Dance Ticket will be available for Rs.7750/= per head. The dinner dance tickets are priced at Ra 5500/- per person.

Popular bands 'Summer Set' and 'Pink N' Purple' will be in action at the King's Court on December 31. Bathiya and Santhush will join the fun on New Year's Eve for the first time, while Clifford Richards will be the Compere of the dance. The tickets are prices at Rs. 7500/- per person including dinner and breakfast. The Beira Terrace will come alive with Warren and Rozette along with a DJ. Ticket are priced at Rs 1500/- per head. DJ Dallas and his Team will be in action at the Library for its members and their guests.

For the second time, Hilton Colombo will have the sounds Gypsies together with the band Ultimate playing at the biggest Ball 'The Silver Ball' at the Grand Ballroom. Gypsies and Ultimate have won so many hearts of our Sri Lankans and always being a crowd puller. Pre- dinner cocktails, a massive buffet spread will also be available prepared by Executive Chef Rohan Fernandopulle with a breakfast buffet for those who want to stay on until dawn. The band Wildfire with DJ music will be played at the Il Ponte pool area.
