Flight aborted after plane catches fire

A fire in one of the engines of a domestic chartered aircraft flying some personnel from the UN office in Colombo forced the aircraft to return to Ratmalana about half an hour after it took off.

The aircraft had been heading to Palali when the fire started in one of the engines, airlines sources said. No one was hurt in the incident and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
