‘Kala Bhushana’ for Neson

Neson Thiyagarajah, popular percussionist was awrded 'Kala Bhushana' Award by the Department of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs last week in recognition of 40 years of his professional music. Versatile in playing almost all percussion instruments - Oriental, Western, Latin American, Jazz, and African, Nason performed with some of Lanka's top bands.

He was the former drummer of the Jetliners, Superstars, Knight-riders, Fortunes, the Gypsies andm is now freelance guest performer at many concerts and a recording artiste, who has rendered services for many local films. He also performed at many concerts in Sri Lanka and all over the world. Participated at many drum festivals and the most recent were 'The Womad' Drum Festival in Singapore and Colombo.
