Rail services to south disrupted

The derailed train

The Matara-Kandy train service would commence this afternoon following the completion of repairs after the derailment of the train yesterday. Until the repairs are completed, trains would be run from Colombo to Koggala and Ahangama to Matara.

Passengers would be transported a distance of 6 km from Koggala to Ahangama by buses. Seven carriages of the Matara-Kandy train were derailed at Kabalana, Ahangama and 250 sleepers were damaged.
