Improvements to ‘Season 3’

Rowan Aniff of Kotahena writes.....

Sirisa fans and oriental music lovers were afforded a rare opportunity of witnessing a spectacular Musical Show when the grand finale of the Sirisa Super Star was staged recently at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. The popularity and interest in this event was so intense that most of the streets were virtually deserted and most people were confined to their homes, all glued to their TV sets awaiting anxiously for the versatile compere Kamal Addaraarachchi to announce the much coveted title of Super Star which crown ultimately fell on the head of a deserving young finalist Pradeep Rangana, a medical intern.

The panel of judges made a splendid job in selecting the winner. My personal view however is that all the 12 finalists fared exceptionally well and they all deserve to be crowned Super Stars including the female vocalists who were unfortunately deprived of a place amongst the final duo. A male and female combination would have been an ideal proposal, with the prize money being split into two groups - Male and Female. This would afford the female vocalist too a break.

Even at this belated moment let me extend a big bouquet to the organizers of this fabulous show who had striven relentlessly to make this a memorable event. It was a rare treat which will go down in the annals of our country as one of the greatest shows. Sirisa has always been in the fore-front of organizing such "Block-busters" and with the Season 3 in the offing we could confidently look forward to more excitement and entertainment to herald the New Year in.
